Statement of Special Inspection
Statement of Special Inspection
(OP)
I've finally got a response back from the building dept. on the commercial project I have posted a few topics on recently.
Apparently I am missing a statement of special inspection as required by IBC ch. 17. The plans inspector suggested I just add a table to one of my drawing sheets to meet this requirement. I've done a little searching online for some sample statements and I noticed that most of these are separate rather large documents, some 10 plus pages. I am wondering if anyone has an resources, links or samples of a simple statement of special inspection for wood frame structures that I can study and utilize as a template.
The IBC clearly states that shearwalls and diaphragms with fastener spacing greater than 4" o/c is exempt (1705.10.1) so I am really not even sure if anything needs special inspections at all, I guess I'm a little confused with this requirement.

It is usually the one and only thing that I get as a permit comment. This allows me a bargaining chip for payment.
