Nonpolar high temperature fiber
Nonpolar high temperature fiber
(OP)
I am trying to create a composite consisting of a high temperature felt (nylon, polyester) in a matrix of a much lower melting point thermoplastic (e.g. LDPE). This doesn't work because the PE is nonpolar and will not wet the polar fabric.
I am looking for a nonpolar polymer with a relatively high melting point (>180C) that is available in felt or fabric form. Altenatively, I might stay with a polar felt and switch to a low melting polar thermoplastic.
I prefer to use cheap and readily available materials. This is a home project in my kitchen oven. My engineering job is in a different discipline.
