NX9 - Sheet bodies to Solid Bodies?

NX9 - Sheet bodies to Solid Bodies?

NX9 - Sheet bodies to Solid Bodies?

(OP)
I have never figured out how to do this, but I figured I would ask....

I downloaded a STEP file from a company and it came in as 29 different sheet bodies and many of them are minor things that should not be their own bodies. But it will not let me unite them or anything so I can export it as maybe 3 parasolid solid bodies.

Is there a way to make sheet bodies so they can be united?

RE: NX9 - Sheet bodies to Solid Bodies?

There is a tool available in NX called the 'Sheet to Solid Assistant'. Just use the Command Finder to find where it's located. Please review the help files for information about how to use this product.

Also, in the STEP import dialog, there is an option to "automatically sew sheets". Turning this on make NX attempt to sew the sheet bodies together; if the sheets enclose a volume, a solid body will result.

You can also sew manually with "Sew" feature. Sewing doesnt always work though because of imperfections at the sheet.

Cool. Thanks everyone. I will give each of these a try (even if all three work) for learning purposes. Thanks
