Rotating Ultrasonic Probe for Orbital Welds

Rotating Ultrasonic Probe for Orbital Welds

Rotating Ultrasonic Probe for Orbital Welds

(OP)
Good Evening,

I am looking for a bit of help and I am hoping this forum will be able to provide it.

I have an issue with instrumentation tubing at the minute where I believe that the area of the orbital weld internally is starting to suffer from pitting corrosion. To start off with the welds were being X-ray'd but due to the number of welds and other factors this isn't possible anymore. I have also been checking welds manually with an ultrasonic device but this is also taking time

I know for larger bore pipework, 4" and above, you can get equipment that resembles the weld head of an orbital welder which attaches to the pipework and the RT Probe rotates round the pipework. I have been trying to find something for 2" diameter and below tubing but can't find anything. Can anyone point me in the correct direction.

If I can find this type of setup then I would purchase 4 or 5 of these heads and probes that I could attach to the tubing at the orbital welds and allow them to rotate round. From this I could then check the results and confirm if there is any internal pitting corrosion and the weld site.

Thank you in advance for any responses.
