Eddy current analysis in Abaqus: USDFLD is ignored

Eddy current analysis in Abaqus: USDFLD is ignored

(OP)
Hello!

According to the Abaqus manual the magnetic permeability can be dependent on field variables. In a test I specified a field variable as initial condition and saw the effect on the material properties. When I tried to modify the field variable during an electromagnetic analysis (transient simulation) with USDFLD the Subroutine was completely ignored. Abaqus does not even raise an error when the USDFLD is omitted although all necessary keywords are present in the input file.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of behavior?

Kind regards and many thanks!
