UWB location systems

UWB location systems

UWB location systems

(OP)
I see news from about 5 years ago discussing UWB (ultrawideband) systems for personnel location data, kind of like a long distance RFID tag. Seems handy for emergencies, and to see who is sleeping in the broom closet. Further google searching doesn't show any systems for this application in production, only a few still in the research stages. Did this technology ever take off or did it fade away?

Thanks,

Z

RE: UWB location systems

Probably industry is just waiting for the applicable patents to expire.

That may be. I'm wondering about coexistence with systems available in the present.
