5-Axis programming challenge

5-Axis programming challenge

5-Axis programming challenge

(OP)
Hello,

We use NX9 and want to create a 5-axis toolpath.
Attached is a file of a cone with some kind of thread.
I want to mill the thread with a end mill 10mm.
When you have a look at the atached file the endmill should be guided along the green faces and the tip of the endmill should follow the green face.
I tried it several times but it I cannot get right.
Does anyone of you have a solution?

Jeroen

Can you provide an image?
What operation types have you tried?

RE: 5-Axis programming challenge

Hi Jeroen
Open the variable contour operation
click on the projection vector wrench
in the specify vector section, flip the direction of the vector
regenerate.

Regards,
Mario

RE: 5-Axis programming challenge

Jeroen,
sorry I missed what you really need.
to accomplish what you want you may:
use the yellow surface as part geometry.
Instead of curve point drive use surface area drive, pick the green surface
and set the material side and cut direction and pecentages accordingly.
Projection vector use tool-axis.
Set Tool-axis Relative to drive, Lead angle=0 Tilt Angle=90

Good luck
Mario.

Hi MarioC92705

Thanks this is what I needed!
With a little tweaking I got the right toolpath.
Thanks a lot.

Jeroen
