PN rating flanges

PN rating flanges

PN rating flanges

(OP)
Dear Seniors,

For pressure and temperature ratings of valves we refer ASME B 16.5. In this standard it was very clearly stated at what pressure and temperature what rating of flanges shall be used.

The same way now I am using PN6 rating valve. Which code I have to refer for temperature rating for this valve. Whether we can follow ASME B 16.5 for this PN6 rating ?

Regards

Srinivas

RE: PN rating flanges

PN [u]flange[u/] ratings can be found in EN 1092-1. That doesnt mean your valve has the same rating as found in EN 1092-1. To what standard has the valve been made? That stnadard should answer your question (either directly or indirectly)

RE: PN rating flanges

Srisua,

No, For pressure ratings of valves you refer to ASME B 16.34. Whilst for flanged valves the temperature pressure ratings and material groups appear to be identical (I didn't do a line by line check), B 16.34 has higher ratings for "Special Class" valves which are welded or threaded.

Like XL83NL says, look at your valve code first.

No you cannot use B 16.5 for PN rated flanges.

It doesn't look like there is an EN code for valves, but ISO or US ones. However if the flange ends p being the weakest part, then it governs the temperature / pressure rating of your PN rated valve with PN rated flanges.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

RE: PN rating flanges

As LittleInch stated, ASME B16.5 is for flanges, ASME B16.34 is for valves.

I would say that it is safe to assume that if you use EN 1092-1 and verify the flange data, you will be okay.

Thanks all of you. I have gone through EN 1092 and I got answer. Thank you very much once again
