Hi,

I`m running Ansys 15.0 workbench and trying to simulate stress on a submarine hull. The hull is a cylinder with hemispheres on each end and a conning tower in the middle.
My problem is what constraints to use and where to place it.

I`ve tried to use displacement constraint on the hatch on the conning tower, and moving it around to see how the stress is on various sections.
But that is no good. I need to see how the stress is overall.

Can anybody please help me with this?

I read it, but didn`t find any ways to solve my problem.
But thanks for the link anyway.

Constrain one node on the symmetry axis in vertical and normal to symmetry plane directions, and load your construction with loads that produce overall equilibrium, thus reactions in the node will be aprox 0, and this constraint will not distort the stress-strain state of your submarine.
