Start motor with a LNG power generator

Start motor with a LNG power generator

Start motor with a LNG power generator

(OP)
Hello
I find that there is a power generator like a diesel set but work with a gas fuel LNG
So my question is :
1- is the maintenance of this equipement is easy
2- I need to supply with this a 2 MW of this equipment a motor 5,5 KV 250 KW with DOL and a 1000KW static load , can the motor start

Best regards

RE: Start motor with a LNG power generator

I don't know if there is a standard 2500 kVA generator set of 5.5 kV rated. What you need then is a step-down transformer of 2500 kVA 11/5.5 kV(non standard tailor-made),I think.
In my opinion, if the transformer short-circuit impedance will be 8% [or less] the motor could start even if generator set will be 1000 kW pre-loaded [preferable to start the motor at no-load].
In any case it will be better to consult the generator set manufacturer like Cummins or Caterpillar [or else].
