P&ID Symbols for Level Alarm Lights

P&ID Symbols for Level Alarm Lights

P&ID Symbols for Level Alarm Lights

(OP)
A project I'm working on has an atmospheric tank with level float switches installed. The floats are LSH (level switch high) and LSHH (level switch high-high). When the water level in the tank activates either the LSH or the LSHH, a strobe light on top of an auxiliary alarm panel illuminates as well as indicator lights on the front of the same alarm panel. What is the proper symbol to use to show this scenario on the P&ID. My initial thought was to show individual bubbles with LSH and LSHH in them. Off of those two bubbles I would have a bubble for each with two solid horizontal lines indicating an auxiliary panel. What letters do I put in those bubbles? Is it "YL" for Event, Light or "LL" for Level, Light? Lastly, in should the bubbles with two solid horizontal lines be inside a square box because the lights "share" the alarm panel with other lights?

Thank you.

RE: P&ID Symbols for Level Alarm Lights

There is no hard and fast rule
I would use the solid double line for front of Auxillary panel with LAH and LAHH for the individual lights (it could be argued they should be LLH and LLHH but I think the primary function is ALARM not Light
For the strobe how about UA for Multivariable Alarm that would apply to anything els you might use it for in the future.

Don't loose any sleep over it, whatever you do someone will disagree.
