RAILROAD TRACK BRIDGE ENGINEERING DESIGN

RAILROAD TRACK BRIDGE ENGINEERING DESIGN

RAILROAD TRACK BRIDGE ENGINEERING DESIGN

(OP)
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if there are design examples for structural components of a railroad bridge? Most of the DOT have design examples for design of Highway Bridges (i.e. Bridge deck design, shear stud design, plate girder design, etc). Is there a place where I can find design examples for railroad bridges specially for the "design of the bridge deck" subjected to the train live loading???

Thank you

Cardenasjulian:
Some of the railroads you are dealing with will have some of their own favorite details and specs., otherwise the group that is most involved in this area of structural design, detailing and construction is the AREMA (American Railroad Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association). They have standards and code requirements for these types of structures. Then, of course, AISC and AWS and std. fabricating procedures come into play also.

RE: RAILROAD TRACK BRIDGE ENGINEERING DESIGN

REMA is the main design spec for railroads.
