UG-46 Inspection Openings: Size

(OP)
Hi,

Basically in UG-46(g)(2) mentioned that the size of the openings shall not be less than 2 in. x 3 in. so does this means the shape shall be rectangular or elliptical/obround shape? And is there any square shaped inspection openings?

Any tips and guides when it comes to design of inspection openings would be much helpful bigsmile

Thanks in advance

RE: UG-46 Inspection Openings: Size

UG-46 g(2) refers to minimum size of hand holes if provided as inspection opening . Hand holes are meant for inserting the hand or arm for inspecting the surface/corrosion if any inside a vessel . It can be of any shape but usually obround/elliptical/circular...

RE: UG-46 Inspection Openings: Size
