B16.5 & SA-522Gr.1

We are designing some ASME VIII-1 vessels using SA-522 Gr.1 material for nozzle flanges in accordance with B16.5. From what I can tell however, B16.5 doesn't provide temperature pressure ratings for this material. So, I'm thinking we will have to complete Appendix 2 calculations using B16.5 geometry, and hope that they meet the ASME Appendix 2 rules.

Can anyone tell me differently based on any hidden code cases or interpretations?

Thank you,
Marty

RE: B16.5 & SA-522Gr.1

Interpretations wont allow you to use SA522 Gr 1 if that material isnt in B16.5.
The code case book I have from 2013 doesnt show any cases on the material SA522 Gr 1 so I guess youll need to do the VIII-1 app. 2 calc.

Cheers, thank you.

your interpretation is correct. You can do that way but in that case you wont be allowed to stamp ASME B16-.5 on that flange. ASME Sec VIII will allow you to use that nozzle flange
