Full Contact IFR

(OP)
Has anyone had any experience with welded aluminum full contact IFR's? I'm hearing that one manufacturer has had a lot of problems recently with weld integrity (this certain 3 letter company shall remain nameless). It sounds like these are poorly designed and made and destined to fail.
Any thoughts out there?

RE: Full Contact IFR

There is another welded aluminum full contact company, whose name is 6 letters long and has not had any weld integrity issues. Their design is quite different (patent applied for), the equipment is off-the-shelf, the basic design concepts included input from purchasing, fabrication and most importantly, the field hands. They have shown that field welding the seams is easy. In their design, the shop welds are easy to make and easy to test both in the shop and the field if needed.
