3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

(OP)
I have an equipment skid that is currently floating 3-3/4" in the air. I'd usually let these sit on the concrete, but I inherited this design and the mechanical equipment is already set with this elevation. This seems to small to cast a pad for, but also seems like it would be an excessive amount of grout. Anyone have any ideas on how to fill the gap in?

RE: 3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

You should be able to fill this in with grout. Check the directions from the manufacturer. Most grouts require an addition of small size aggregate (pea gravel) when the thickness is greater than 3".

RE: 3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

What equipment is on the pad??
What is the weight of the equipment on the pad?
What is the service (duty) of the equipment on the pad :
rotating platform for a pump?
just sitting there?
ramming or impact forging the process material? folding cardboard,
serving as a metrology stand?
holding up a fish tank?

How accurate is the equipment need to be located?
What rebar is needed in the concrete pad?
Is the equipment precisely aligned now (on the 2x4), or can it move a little bit?
Can it move "not at all"?
How is the equipment mounted and with what kind of studs/bolts/tie/anchor bolts/toothpicks?

Your solutionmay need a complete designed concrete pad and grout, or 4x 2x4 nailed to gether to form an open-top box slightly larger than the equipment, then pour concrete in the box.

It supports a ~50 ton crusher, with anchor bolts into concrete below

RE: 3-3/4" Gap - Use concrete pad, shims, grout?

Are the anchor bolts in place?
At the right place, but the wrong elevation w/r to the floor grade elevation?
Not there at all?

Is the crusher attached to anything, or is loaded by forklift or belt?

How big (width x length) is the needed pad?

Any photo's?

This is the design phase. All the mechanical chutes/belts are designed for this elevation though, so it's not moving. So nothing is there now

Fill 2 1/2" with HS Grout with 1/4" Pea Gravel aggregate, then fill the last 1" with straight HS Grout with no aggregate.
