Piping Material specification procedure and clacluations
Piping Material specification procedure and clacluations
(OP)
Hi,
how does the Thickness calculation done for developing the Piping material specification (PMS). The piping system is designed for full flange rating but what consideration is done for Thicknesses calculation during the development of the PMS.
Please provide the detail industrial procedure for developing the PMS for the projects.
Thanks in advance.

"Full flange rating" will depend on material type and MAWP so you need to know this.
Corrosion allowance will vary by materials and fluid being transported so you need to know that
Allowance or not for manufacturing tolerance, threaded components etc will vary by each code.
Then you calculate wall thickness for each line size you anticipate using and write it all down.
Or you just use one done for the previous project.....

Thank you for your response.
i am looking for the procedure followed in the industries in development of Piping Martial Specification (PMS).
Please share with me.

I'm really not sure what else you want?

You can also select materials appropriate for various fluids, reactiveness, corrosivity, galvanic compatibility, pressure and temperature categories.
Select materials appropriate for fabrication, strength and testing requirements of the design code (ie materials listed in the design code, etc.., maybe excluding spiral welded pipe, etc.)
Select wall thicknesses per the design code requirements plus any other requirements you need for the piping class you are providing (incorporating company experience with previous designs, etc.)

Thank you for elaborating my request.
This is exactly i am looking for the PMS.
Please let me Know if somebody has this kind of information.

Specifications for each material are further extended to define low or high temperature applications, service PWHT requirements, added radiographic requirements, corrosion allowance, etc.

All you need to do now is to make a flow chart out of it.

Hopefully, the copyright police won't send a SWAT team if you download it.
The question seems to be: "how is a piping class derived?" See if the attachment is of any use.

Thank you for your support and tips.
i have got the information i was looking for my reference.
it will surly help me in understanding the procedure for developing the PMS.
thanks once again for showing interest to my query.
