Change color of component in NX 9 ?
Change color of component in NX 9 ?
(OP)
Hello Everyone,
I am unable to change the color of a component in NX 9 by selecting the component in the assembly and Edit Display --> Color.
Is there some NX setting that is preventing me from applying the color. I do not see any visual color change in the assembly. The same is happening when I try to change the color using a NXOpen program.
Please help as I am clueless.
Thanks,
Amitabh

Can you please let me know how can I figure out whether I am in one of the studio modes ?
Is there some NX setting ?
Thanks.

Where can I view this option so that I can check the setting.
Thanks.

There is more than one way to get to it, search for "random color" in the command finder for other ways.
Also, use Information -> Object... on the component. In the first 15 lines or so of the output you will see the Color listed and you may also see the Actual Color listed. I've seen cases where these two colors were not the same and changing the component color didn't have an effect on the displayed color; but I'm not sure how it got in this state and I have not been able to reproduce it...

RE: Change color of component in NX 9 ?
It was to do with the "Assembly Load Option" setting. If the "Use Lightweight Representation" is checked , the face color is not changing. The user needs to un-check this and then load the assembly in NX session before applying the face color.
Thanks for your help.

That being said, even when I load an Assembly using Lightweight Representations, I have NO problems whatsoever editing the color of either the Component itself or one of the faces of a Component. But if you're happy with your 'solution', well more power to you.

I am not sure if this was the same thing, but since it sounded similar, I thought I would toss it in there.
