Is it possible or is there a translator that can bring in a entire part family, sketches, family table and all from Pro_E or Creo to NX. Currently using version 8
Thanks, Mike

RE: Pro-e/Creo to nx

NX can open a native Pro/E file but not sure how it would handle a family table. Family tables are different in how they are defined by the software in NX than in Pro/E. John Baker and I did some testing between NX4 and WF2 years ago when NX introduced the import module for Pro/E files, but we only tested assemblies and individual parts, I think.
Which software do you have, Mike? I have WF4 and creo2.

RE: Pro-e/Creo to nx

Yes Ben, that was all that we tested, a simple Assembly with a couple of Components (and it worked fine).

In addition to the simple topology conversion, that has been around for years, we have been working on what we call the CMM process, referring to something called a 'Content Migration Module', which is designed to retain as much of the internal design intent and logic as possible including features and parameterics as well as Assembly structure and relationships. Note that the first instance of this was when we migrated Ideas users to NX back around the NX 2.0 and NX 3.0 time frames. Since then we have developed a few additional 'flavors' of this product as we encountered 'opportunities' in the marketplace for them (perhaps you heard about Chrysler and Daimler both moving to NX from some sort of 'French' software ;-).

But please note, even though we may have, and I'm not saying that we have, developed something like this for Pro-E/CREO, these tools are meant to be used to migrate data, ONE time, in ONE direction only and it's not even sold as a module like other add-ons to NX, but rather as part of service offering where we help companies transition from one CAD system to another. Now there may be some 3rd party organizations out there who might offer this activity as a service since these various CMM products were developed with the help of 3rd parties since it was not always possible for us, Siemens PLM, to get access to the internal data formats of our competitors systems, but they, as well as ourselves, do work with these 3rd parties whose job it is to develop and provide translation services/products, with several levels of completeness in terms of moving CAD data from one system to another.

That being said, a company named 'Elysium' is the first that comes to mind:
