Loadbank connection and codes

(OP)
This is for in the USA, so I am looking for any codes that may apply to this.

The situation concerns loadbank testing on emergency generators that are fossil fuel driven. In some cases, the main generator breaker, located at the generator, may not be available. So the question concerns, connected the load bank directly to the generator output terminals.

Is there any code considerations?

I am advocating the use of a temporary breaker, appropriately sized, be used. But would like something to hang my hat on so to speak.

Thank you
