New User Command

If we use the New User Command to make a button that connects to an .EXE file, is it possible to make this button available to all computers, or is it only available to the computer we make it on and each computer would have to make one?

RE: New User Command

Changes to the User Interface like this are saved in the 'user.mtx' file and if you save a role, they're saved there as well. Now what can do is set up one workstation the way want the UI to be like and save a 'Role' and it will now contain all of yoru changes. Then put it somewhere on the network or server where it's easy to find. Then add te following Environment Variable to each workstation...

UGII_DEFAULT_ROLE

...set equal to the path to the role file you created above. Now whenever anyone logs in from any of your workstations they'll get the same UI layout, at least at first as there's nothing stopping users from make further changes to the UI and saving those changes in their own 'Role' files.

Thanks John

The problem with this is that everyone already has their systems set how they want them. I know mine is very different than everyone elses because I dont like going to different ribbons to find what I need, so I have every icon I need as small icon in one ribbon. So using a role would make everyone spend time moving everything back around again to how they like it. lol I wish NX had the ability to add something like a sub-role. A role that does not reset your settings, but will only add particular things to your settings. Then we could put this button on a sub-role and everyone just add it to their settings and its already set up for them when they add it. lol

RE: New User Command

You can make an RTB file (for ribbon) or TBR file (for toolbar) and load either one by using the GROUP or SITE directory variables.
