Continue NL Analysis At the End of NonLinear Dead Load Case
Continue NL Analysis At the End of NonLinear Dead Load Case
(OP)
Hi All,
In nowadays softwaress I observe that one have to define the preliminary Nonlinear load case(dead) in order to perform overall NL analysis, which is incorporated into NL analsyis with "continue from State at the End of NL case" option. I can not understand whether that technique is mandatory or not when performing the NL analysis, but I can see that there is deviation in NL analysis resultant stresses if I switch that "continue from State at the End of NL case" off and on.
On theoritical basis, I first thought that preliminary NL load case is required to calulate the initial-stiffness to perform the NL analysşs. But actually neither initial nor tangent stiffness formations require the preliminary case to be run. So what could be the purpose of defining such a preliminary case to be run in NL analysis and any correlation which points to the theory of it ?
Regards,
