Is there a way to find/search for Mating Conditions in NX8.5.3.3?

Is there a way to find/search for Mating Conditions in NX8.5.3.3?

Is there a way to find/search for Mating Conditions in NX8.5.3.3?

(OP)
I have at least one assembly that has mating conditions leftover from NX5 days. Is there a way to search these out when working in NX? I get the notification when opening the assemblies but it is usually when I am opening higher level assemblies. Is this one of the things that I will just have to 'live' with?

Thank you,

Jimmie

RE: Is there a way to find/search for Mating Conditions in NX8.5.3.3?

Assembly Constraints were introduced in NX 5.0 and for the next couple of releases, we allowed users to create and edit either the old Mating Conditions or the new Assembly Constraints, but NOT both in the same Assembly file. So it was fairly easy to tell what was what by simply going into Preferences -> Assemblies and switching the constraint mode and seeing what was there. However, starting with NX 7.5 we no longer allow users to create or edit the old Mating Conditions so there is no longer a Preference setting to switch modes. That being said, NX will still honor the old mating conditions and if changes are made in the Component models or expressions edit which are controlling Mating Conditions, like Angle or Distance, they will still update and we will continue to support this in perpetuity. Also there is no problem having a higher level Assembly with multiple sub-Assemblies, some using Mating Conditions and Some using Assembly Constraints, just that starting with NX 7.5 you can ONLY create and edit Assembly Constraints. Any attempt to edit the Constraints of an Assembly using Mating Conditions will result in a dialog asking you to either delete the Mating Conditions or to convert them to Assembly Constraints. Please keep in mind that this is optional as the Mating Conditions will remain valid, just that this is an all or nothing situation.

Now as to your question, once you're at or past NX 7.5, there is no way to access the old Mating Condition dialogs with their small navigator showing the Mating Conditions but there is still a way to see the list of Mating Conditions/Assembly Constraints in the Assembly and from there you can determine what's what. Simply go to...

Information -> Assemblies -> Mating Conditions...

...and you'll see the Constraints in your Assembly, be they Mating Conditions or Assembly Constraints.

Anyway, I hope this helps you with what you're looking for.

I need to change the next to last sentence in my above post. It should read:

"...and you'll see the Mating Conditions in your Assembly."

Sorry, about that winky smile
