Error on ASME PTB-3 Example manual?

Error on ASME PTB-3 Example manual?

Error on ASME PTB-3 Example manual?

(OP)
Dear All, kindly help me to solve this question.

In ASME PTB-3-2010 (ASME VIII Div.2 Example Problem Manual) page 5-11 Table E5.2.1-1 you find Pm=19028psi for the ninth classification line (cylindrical vessel shell far from discontinuities); in the 2013 edition there is the same value; by rule, with an internal pressure of 420psi, internal radius 42" and shell thickness 0.938" I found the hoop component of stress being about 19e3psi and the meridional one 9.5e3psi (and othe components of the tensor could be neglected). Pm (equivalent linearized stress), according to the code, should be the von Mises equivalent stress, that should be about 16.5psi; is there an error in the ASME problem manual?

Maye the manual shows Tresca equivalent stress?

Thank you

Regards

Sorry was my mistake:

I didn't take in consideration tickness reduction due to corrosion.
Actually by formula I calculated:
hoop component of stress being about 21.9e3psi and the meridional one 10.9e3psi

Regards
