Pressure-Volume Chart for CSA Z662 Strength Test

Pressure-Volume Chart for CSA Z662 Strength Test

(OP)
In CSA Z662-11 clause 8.7.4.2 states that the maximum strength test pressure should not produce a deviation of 0.2% from the straight-line proportionality on a P-V plot for the test section. Now I'm not sure if this is an easy question to answer, or if it's detailed...but how does one draw a P-V plot for the test section? Is the starting point basically the volume of the pipeline to the starting pressure in the pipeline, then the next plot would be however much water you add (volume) and the corresponding pressure you get from adding that volume? I'd like to get my head around this and I can't find anything to help me out. If anyone has any links that would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone?

I'm not sure if links are supported, but this document may be of help to you. I'm not located in California, but CSLC put this out along with an Excel doc you can request from them in which you enter your data and the yield plot is generated. I used this as a tool when I prepared for the only hydrotest I've been a part of that required yield plotting. Give this a read and see if it helps. I'm interested to hear from you again as I also found it quite hard to get good info online.

Thanks. This looks like good information. Note that I do not need to complete a P-V plot at this time, but I am just trying to gather information so that when I need to I will have a better understanding of how to do it. Thanks again.
