How to create quality tiff file of 2D drawing in UG NX 7.5 without compromise in quality?

How to create quality tiff file of 2D drawing in UG NX 7.5 without compromise in quality?

(OP)
I have a UG 2D drawing with A0 size and I have to convert it into tiff format

Using Windows 7. So, is there any direct method to export tiff file directly from Unigraphics software.

Note: File - Export - Tiff is not giving a quality output. It just gives the screenshot image of the drawing.

Please guide to create the high resolution tiff file of UG drawing.

Thanks

I have no experience of it but you can plot to tiff format.

Since you want top quality, Printing to some ... option is probably not relevant.

From within NX, at least as it applies to Drawing views, the only option is to capture TIFF images at the display resolution. Of course you could always move up to a higher resolution display, for example 4K displays are now becoming available, along with the appropriate graphics card.

That being said, you could export the Drawing as a PDF file and then use a 3rd-Party application to extract a high-resolution TIFF image from the high-resolution PDF file. I know that you can use PhotoShop to open PDF files and then resave them as TIFF, but I'm not sure how much detail is lost in the conversion, but I suspect that it would still be better than what you'd get with the regular TIFF creation from within NX, unless of course you had gone the high-resolution graphics display/card route. With that in mind, I found several PDF -> TIFF converters doing a Google search, some of them free or as an online offers. I would give this a shot and see if you get the results that you need.

Export your drawing as a CGM file; then use the cgm2tiff utility that comes with NX. It can be found in the {NX install dir}\NXPLOT directory. Search for "cgm2tiff" in the NX help for the command line options.

Thanks John, cowski.
Cowski.. I have found that cgm2tiff utility. But it is failing to open. Maybe i have to install it properly.

John. Yes, I have found one third party application to convert pdf 2 tiff. Though some resolution loss is happening, I am ok with the final quality.

Thanks for your guidance.

RE: How to create quality tiff file of 2D drawing in UG NX 7.5 without compromise in quality?

The cgm2tiff is a command line utility, there is no GUI to open. Search the help docs for the command line switches to use, or run it with the -help switch.

The default resolution is 200 dots per inch, but this can be changed.

... - Am I the only one who have the Tiff as an option in the plotting ?

I also have that option. I ran a quick test with it and it appears to output a tiff file at about 72 dots per inch resolution with no way to specify a higher resolution in the plot dialog. 72 dpi is good when it will be used on a normal computer display, but is a bit low if you intend to print it.

Cowski, i was afraid that you would notice that... I didn't want to mention that one needs to go through the plotter setup procedure to change the default value , with all it's if's and but's.
If the plotting is set up such that it works, it's a minute change, if the plotting isn't setup,...
( i cannot touch my environment here so i can't write a quick how-to description.)

File -> Plot, change to TIFF, the you can change the plot resolution in the advanced plot settings (see image).
