Career direction out of project engineering?

Career direction out of project engineering?

Career direction out of project engineering?

(OP)
Hi guys,

I'd really appreciate some career advice. I'm a mechanical engineer who made his way into project engineering. I've got 10 years experience in oil and gas /pharma but I'm not satisfied with my career direction, mainly because I don't enjoy the technical aspect of my job. The only career advice given is doing the PMP and becoming a PM - something which would be my next step. I've followed this path for years and am now at the point where I would like out but don't know about options are open to me, since I've spent the majority of my career in rather isolated site locations. I've heard that proposals could be an option, but I wouldn't know how to approach that. Does anyone have any other suggestions or has anyone followed a similar path? Really appreciate any tips so thanks in advance :)
