How To Import A 2D NX 9.0 CAD Model Into Workbench Design Modeler v15.0

How To Import A 2D NX 9.0 CAD Model Into Workbench Design Modeler v15.0

How To Import A 2D NX 9.0 CAD Model Into Workbench Design Modeler v15.0

(OP)
Hello,

I'm new to this forum so if this question has already been answered feel free to point me to the right location.

I've attached an example of a 2D area in NX that I am trying to import into ANSYS workbench design modeler.

If you open the part you can see that I have placed the area on the XY plane such that the area is on the positive X side of the Y axis. In workbench I change my geometry properties to 2D and have surfaces selected but no solid or lines selected. I am able to import 3D geometry but not 2D geometry.

If possible please share any sample parts that you have successfully imported into design modeler.

Here is a summary of the Geometry Properties Selected:

Analysis Type : 2D
Solid Bodies : No
Surface Bodies : Yes
Line Bodies : No
Mixed Import Resolution : Surface

I saw a link online that shows how to make a 3D model 2D. (http://www.ansys.com/Resource+Library/Demos/Associ...)

However, I am starting off with a 2D sketch and don't see any reason why I should be forced to extrude it only to have to thin it back down in Design Modeler.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
