DEEP BEAM SHEAR

DEEP BEAM SHEAR

DEEP BEAM SHEAR

(OP)
I have a pile cap supported on two piles(400x400mm) , The centre to contre distance of pile is 1.6 m the with and length of pile cap are 1 m and 2.6 m , The effective depth of pile cap is 540 mm. The pedestal dimension is 600x600 mm.
One way shear is considerd at the face of pedestal , but the effective depth is on the pile cap .
Do i need to check for one way shear ,If so i have to check for one way shear what equation i would use for checking deep beam shear.

RE: DEEP BEAM SHEAR

Truss analogy (strut and tie analysis) is the most appropriate method of designing a pile cap as described.

RE: DEEP BEAM SHEAR

(OP)
As per truss Analogy if i consider beta = 0.6 without reinforcement satisfying , It menas no shear reifnrovcement required at the region of strut. But as per deep beam shear shear reifnorcement has to be provided at every d/5. Can anybody help me regard this
