Looking at pulley geometry it seems there is trapezoidal and curvilinear shapes.
My questions are following considering Gates and Carlyle belts.
1. Are the trapezoidal geometries the same between Gates and Carlyle? Can you use the same pulleys for each?
2. I believe curvilinear geometries are not the same but can you use same pulleys for both types?

Shortly after toothed belts and pulleys were standardized with trapezoidal teeth, the train went off the rails and everyone started selling belts with convex teeth. ... all with different geometries. Some of them _almost_ interchange, which leads to all manner of problems.
AFAIK, the trapezoidal toothed belts and pulleys interchange among manufacturers, and the convex toothed belts and pulleys mostly don't.
Regardless of the tooth form, you're probably better off buying both pulleys and the belt from the same manufacturer, so as to avoid interchange problems, and also to avoid a lot of finger pointing when something goes wrong.
