Cast steel or forged body valve.

Cast steel or forged body valve.

RE: Cast steel or forged body valve.

If you have legible Name Plate on valve, read the material for body.
Is that 316L written on body?

Regards,

RE: Cast steel or forged body valve.

If the valve body says "316L", this could be a stainless steel forged A182 F316L body. On the other hand, the same marking seems to show that this is is a 4" valve. Is this so? In that case, chances are that this is not forged (even though the 316L marking might suggest otherise).

I'm assuming you don't have access to original MTRs or a traceable mill report, otherwise you probably wouldn't be asking. Please share any further information.

I work with valves in exotic alloys at alloy-valves.com. This is me on Twitter and LinkedIn. Let's connect!

Yes, The mark on the body is 316L, but the body looks as the cast steel stainless. This may be ASTM A351 CF3M (316L). Is this causes problem, what is differences in the use for cryogenic?

RE: Cast steel or forged body valve.

Visually, it looks more like a forging than a casting. If it was a casting the markings would be CF3M rather than 316L.
