Davit Arm Eyebolt for Low Temperature Service (-50°F)
Davit Arm Eyebolt for Low Temperature Service (-50°F)
(OP)
Hello,
A customer has asked us to design a davit arm assembly for an outdoor manway, and want all materials certified for -50°F MDMT.
The design is per PIP VEFV1117 (manway on side of vertical tower).
I am having a tough time specifying the eyebolt material. Normally for warmer temperatures we would specify a galvanized 1030 eyebolt, but as far as I've found, this should only be good to +30°F per ASME specs.
Can anyone recommend a suitable material for an eyebolt with a certified low temperature of -50°F for outdoor operation?
Thanks all,
Marty

I personally find applying MDMT requirements to non-pressure parts going a bit beyond the intent.
