NX Reuse Components Help

NX Reuse Components Help

NX Reuse Components Help

(OP)
Hello,

I am trying to develop a reuse components library. I am constructing these library parts using a spreadsheet. (Very similar to moldwizard standard parts) however I can not get the reuse components name to update with a size change, similar to how the example bolts work. IE if you have a m5x20 bolt in your session and you change it to an m8x35 the component name updates.

Does anyone know what attribute/variable needs to be set to drive the "Name" input box on the add/edit reusable component menu?

Thank you for the help

RE: NX Reuse Components Help

Are you building Part Families? If not, it sounds like you should be.

With Part Families, the parts are created from a Part Family 'master' template part and the 'children' are all standalone parts (once created) which are saved using the own unique names, taken from the particular 'record' in the spreadsheet which was used to define the parameters of the 'child part' at the time that it's instantiated. This is how the vast majority of the NX 'Reuse Library' was built and which you can download from the NX support site and link into your implementation of NX.
