Flow in Pipes Q

Flow in Pipes Q

Flow in Pipes Q

(OP)
Hi lads, I'm a Mech eng student and I was wondering if you could help me out with the question in the attached picture:
-First of all I'm wondering why P2=0 because the question gives no indication that P1=150kPa is a gauge pressure
-I can understand why there is no head loss due to exit because point 2 is on the rim of the pipe just before exit but how come there is no head loss due to entry from the tank?
Thanks in advance for the help.

First off this post will soon be deleted as they do not allow homework here.

RE: Flow in Pipes Q

head loss due to entry from the tank = KL V2/2g

You are pumping from a pressurized tank to atmosphere

Atmosphere = 0 gauge pressure = 0 psig = 14.7 psia

The tank pressure is 150kPa psig

P1=150kPa is a gauge pressure
