Hoist protection house/dog house
Hoist protection house/dog house
(OP)
The hoist manufacturer has required me to build a cover to protect hoist from rain and environment.
It is a outdoor straigth monorail sitting on top of two opposite existing beams od a cat walk.
Any body has ran into the same issue? Any pics? dimenisons? Any details? Catologs?
I appreciate any information.
My nonorail is S 10 x 25.4 and is 1 Ton hoist.
I like to see any design or if there are any prefabricated ones
Thank you

They cover part of the beam, and the whole riding trolly/engine/chain/hook assembly.
I'll go there next week, will take a pic.

Gentlemen, thank you for responding.
Would able to send me some pics, details, catologs?
I havce not delt with this before and I am blank
How long the thing has to be?
Where does it get attached?
Does it require a structural design or you just use some plate and weld to gather?
Any design, opoeration consideration?
Thank you for your kind assistance in advance.

Did you get a chance going to place you mentioned and taking few pics?
I appreciate it.

My goodness, you claim to be an engineer and are supposed to have a little imagination and some engineering moxie. In its simplest form, it’s a 4'x4' by 2' high shed, with a gable roof, to drain. All covered with corrugated sheet metal and framed with angles and light structural shapes. You haven’t chosen to give us much meaningful design info., despite being asked for same. If you will store the trolley/hoist in the same place all the time, then install the shelter on top of the crane rail beam, and store the hoist under it. If the hoist might be left in any position on the beam, then mount the light shelter structure to the trolley so that it just follows the hoist around. Obviously, there are some details to be worked out, but only you have the details needed and seem unwilling to share them. If you can’t work it out from here, maybe you shouldn’t be tackling this problem, or at least get some help from your boss, or the hoist supplier, they should know what you are doing and how and why.
