Tapping with NX

Tapping with NX

Tapping with NX

(OP)
Hello everyone

Someone knows if is posible adding the retract move for the "tapping operation"
in NX, i want to cut .200 inches, and retract .100, just like a break chip
operation.

Thanks

RE: Tapping with NX

Yes you can. Are you using Drilling operations (Point-to-point) or Hole Making operations. What version of NX are you using?
In Drilling you can set the Rtrcto value to distance and it should retract between each hole.
In Hole making you need to go to the non cutting moves and set the Transfer/Rapid - Between Holes

RE: Tapping with NX

I think the OP is asking for backing the tool back up slightly periodically to break the chip; such as G73 is to drilling operations. Perhaps Mark could chime in about this...

RE: Tapping with NX

When you create a holemaking tapping operation, and set the Motion Output to Machine Cycle, there ae 4 tap cycles available:
Drill, Tap
Drill, Tap, Float
Drill, Tap, Deep
Drill, Tap, Breakchip

If you choose Breakchip, you get options for the depth increments.
A typical listing looks like this:
CYCLE/TAP,BRKCHP,STEP,1.2250,RAPTO,2.5000,FEDTO,-24.5000,RTRCTO,AUTO,MMPR,1.5000
