Pig Trap Nozzle reinforcement

Pig Trap Nozzle reinforcement

Pig Trap Nozzle reinforcement

(OP)
Hi All,
we have a Pig trap to be designed and procured, size is 24" x 18", wall thickness of 11.31 mm.
Clinet asks for reinforcement of nozzles. Can you guys help me with , which codes to be followed..

The pig trap to be designed as per ASME B31.4..

RE: Pig Trap Nozzle reinforcement

Make it easy on yourself; "replace the hole"
Calculate a torus with an area that matches the finished diameter of the nozz hole, and cut a repad with those dimensions from your shell material. Don't forget the 'weep hole' so that the installed repad can be air tested.

RE: Pig Trap Nozzle reinforcement

Errr haven't you answered your own question? "The pig trap to be designed as per ASME B31.4".....

See section 404.3 or just use "integrally re-inforforced branch connection fittings" AKA weldolets.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
