Ordinate Dimension - Snap points unavailable

Ordinate Dimension - Snap points unavailable

Ordinate Dimension - Snap points unavailable

(OP)
While in ordinate dimensioning, Snapping point options of Tangent point and Quadrant point are unavailable.

Why is it? How could I dimension to the nose edge with ordinate dimension scheme?

RE: Ordinate Dimension - Snap points unavailable

If you're using the 'Type' option 'Single Dimension', than at least the 'Tangent Point' Snap Point is available. And before you ask why it's not available when applying 'Multiple Dimensions', try and imagine what TWO (generally at right-angles to each other) dimensions from the SAME 'Tangent Point' would even look like. I can't.

As for the 'Quadrant Point' Snap Point, I'm not really sure how much you'd gain by even having it. However, if you can show a good example of where that would be useful, please feel free to do so.

RE: Ordinate Dimension - Snap points unavailable

I would simply use the 'Type' option of 'Single Dimension' using the Snap Point 'Tangent Point' TWICE, or am I missing something? I could only see two possible uses of a 'Quadrant Point' and in both cases it appears that the 'Tangent Point' would have done the job.

Sorry John, I didn't clearly understand your first answer. ( I was in the view that you adding a separate dimension)

Having said that, while dimensioning under TYPE= Multiple Dimensions, I could select one dimension vector (i.e. under BASELINE). Hypothetically at this point I need to have the tangent point selection available. This is what I was missing.

Hmm... You are say saying instead of the above (changing the Baseline vector) I should go and change the Type to Single. I'll try it next time. Thanks again.

I could add another point to this topic.

We need “Tangent snap points” selection, when setting the margins too.
