Help!

Help!

(OP)
hi, ETABS professional:
Another questions to add on;

a) I'm testing with seismic loading.. How come the maximum displacement is increased after i add on Shear Wall? Suppose to be decrease right? What has gone wrong?

Thanks so much.

RE: Help!

depends, if you're adding lots of mass in a rather small shear wall then your shear resistance capacity will be overcome by your extended inertia forces.

RE: Help!

JV91:

If your shearwall layout is not balanced, then you could be CAUSING ADDITIONAL TORSION and your model could twist more than it did before the new shearwall.

Thanks!

Between, how to input Base Isolation System and Viscous Damper in ETABS?
