How to calculate total quantity of steel plate

(OP)
Hello everyone,
I am trying to calculate the total quantity of steel plate as i have to fabricate one hinge which has a 20mm thick steel plate.

The size of one sheet is 150mm* 150mm and i need to make 12 pieces , can anyone tell me what will be the total required quantity of steel plate?

Thanks in advance.

RE: How to calculate total quantity of steel plate

Hi,

why not upload a sketch showing your finished item and the semifinish / sheet size you intend to use?
Then it will come down to geometrics & manufacturing considerations (cutting machine, cut width)
Regards
R.

Buy the 12 hinges. They are very difficult to make one at a time on a first timie basis by people with no experience from a design made by one with no experience.

RE: How to calculate total quantity of steel plate

How big is the hinge, width by length? How is the hinge axis where the two halves meet formed, rolled, machined...?

RE: How to calculate total quantity of steel plate

I would use ACAD for such determination.

Bare AutoCAD can't unroll a hinge knuckle to show you the blank.

Bare Solidworks can.

You can figure out the unrolled dimension with a calculator. A piece of paper. A pencil and a ruler.

You can't make a hinge that way.
