Frequency of Rapid Chloride Permeability Tests

Frequency of Rapid Chloride Permeability Tests

How frequently should rapid chloride permeability tests be carried out during manufacture of precast panels, where the specified RPC is not greater than 1000 coulombs at 56 days? CSA A23.1 does not specify the required frequency of this test.

RE: Frequency of Rapid Chloride Permeability Tests

ajk1...contact Doug Hooton (Professor R.D. Hooton, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Toronto). He knows more about the subject than anyone around. I don't know of a recommended frequency, but I know that John Bickley did some of the early work in this testing and Hooton is a pioneer in it as well.

LOL! That is exactly what I did right after I posted my message here. He got back to me right away and was very helpful. He sent me the OPS spec on this, including frequency of testing. Ron, you know what they say...great minds think alike.
