Reuse Dialogue Box: Numeric Display issue in some feilds NX9

Reuse Dialogue Box: Numeric Display issue in some feilds NX9

Reuse Dialogue Box: Numeric Display issue in some feilds NX9

(OP)
I've attached a screen dump of what I'm seeing. The functionality seems to be there but I it's displaying some other engineering format besides standard decimal places.

Retainer D+ Should be reading .0003
Retainer Hd Dia + Should be .03125
Retainer Hd Depth + Should be .002
Stripper D + Should be .0625

When you type in those values they stick and everything seems to work OK. But the fields turn red after the change.
Thats another one that stumps me. All the fields that report to "string" Expressions are also red.

What am I doing wrong???

I've been setting up quite a few re-use parts but I'm only seeing this on some of them.
It's a little baffling and will be confusing for the users.

The decimal place display format I was experiencing is called "varchar"
While it worked fine and models solved it's very annoying.

The fix is to make sure the spread sheets you use with the re-use system are formatted as text only. That's probably in literature somewhere but I rarely read up on my new en-devours so I wouldn't know for sure.
Also, if you overlook that and write the spread sheet it's not enough to just change the format. The cell content must be deleted, reformatted and data re-entered. If the amount of data is large just cut and paste into text file. Then reformat and mass insert.

When you type , override, a value, it will be red to tell you that it's overridden. Any value from the spreadsheet is black.
Why "String" expressions are red i don't know.

Thanks for the feedback Toost.

It's a shame that the reuse dialogue falls a little short like that. Red implies a problem to the end user.

Also, fields that require a unique input or numeric value are forced down into the "Details" group below. Unique fields like that are often a primary parameter... not a detail.
This pushes them out of sequence to the rest of the primary parameters that do have multiple selections. That makes it hard to organize and group things in a logical way. You've frequently got a bastard field down under!

That could be marketing I guess... Watched some you tube vids on the Product Template Studio Taylor mentioned in one of my other threads.
It definitely provides for these issues and a whole lot more.
