Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

(OP)
Hello
I need some guidance on how can i Design Non-circular flange with Non-Circular bore Flange. Actually my flange shape is Oblong with major axis and minor axis.
thanks

RE: Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

Fine.

So give us some dimensions.

RE: Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

(OP)
Major axis O.D=535mm
Major axis I.D=450mm
Minor axis O.D=435mm
Minor axis I.D=350mm
Shape is like circular oblong.
Type of flange is somewhat similar to APP.2 fig 2-4-6a..Design pressure=6bar, Temp=200°C,M.O.C=SA181 Gr 60.

RE: Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

Nope. Doesn't make sense.

Now, that may be a problem on my end, but your description doesn't make sense.

It's low pressure, low temperature, so it can be fabricated fairly cheaply. Somehow.

Now. Draw it. Inlet and outlet nozzles - seem to be the two above based on OD and ID. Maybe.
Length, end-to-end?
Type of material for transition?
Bolt "circles" at end mating flanges? Bolt diameters and bolt hole diameters? nbr of bolts?
Flange surfaces? flange styles?

or is this a single flange, mated to its partner that is a combination of the two major OD and minor ID's above?

Hi
My component is not flat head and cover its like STUB END, which is fastened with C-Clamp to cover(which i can design as per UG-34) and it has oblong shape because on matching cover its has two 150 and 80 Dia. glass.

Can i go with Taylor Forge bulletin 502, but still i am not sure for non-circular shape and using C-Clamp????

RE: Non-Circular flange with Non-Circular Bore

I think "circular oblong" means Oval??

See also http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=4009 and search for "Oval flange design" or "non circular flange design" on this site and elsewhere.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

To upload files, look at the bottom of the screen below the text section of the reply section.

You will see "Attachment" as a label, and a paperclip icon. Create (draw, sketch, CAD or scan your file - usually as a jpg or pdf file type) the file, then follow the "clip here to upload your file" instructions.
