GSA SEISMIC CERTIFICATION

GSA SEISMIC CERTIFICATION

GSA SEISMIC CERTIFICATION

(OP)
We recently were approach by one of our clients, and architect, he is going after a remodal of a goverment leased building. He submitted a Request for Lease Proposals, on the proposal they are requesting a GSA seismic certification. Now, our client is going after this project, so he might get it or might not, but, how can we provide a seismic certification on any building without knowing how the building was designed, there are no construction documents. The building is occupied by the government for the last 15 to 20 years, they are just going to remodel the interior, nothing is going to be done to the exterior. Has anyone had a similar experience, and what have you guys done.

Thanks for all your help

Don't know if any of these directly will answer your question - but might get you started down the right path.

JAE, thanks for your response. I had read some of the requirements and the building is not excempt. Now, the project is not assigned to the architect yet, he is just submitting the requet for proposal, but the government is requeting a seismic sertification to be submitted with the proposal, how can that be posible if you have not worked on the project yet. Construction documents are not available, nor we know what kind of lateral load resisting system this building has.
