Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a project to create a 65" multitouch PC screen. This will available in 3 configurations: laying flat, wall mounted and table mounted. It will be used primarily in moving vehicles so it needs to withstand vibration.

The product will be composed of the following:
- 6mm thick touch glass. Two 2.9mm panes of glass laminated with touch film in the middle. This is an off-the-shelf product.
- 65" panel. This will be glued and laminated (the air gap between the glass and the panel is filled with a transparent compound to improve visibility) to the touch glass. This is an off-the-shelf product. It has VESA mounts integrated (400x400mm).
- Outer bezel. This will be custom made. The glass will be lowered down into it and glued. My current plan is to use 4 extruded aluminium profiles, welded together with cast or CNC'd aluminium corners.
- Back cover of sheet metal. This will be custom made and attached to the outer bezel with screws.
- Electrical components. These will be fastened to the back cover.

Now my query is how best to avoid, or dampen vibrations and shocks to the panel? We do this on our current product range with very effective results, but this is a much larger and heavier product.

My current idea is to create a bracket that attaches to either the outer bezel or back cover (or both) and the VESA mounts of the panel to act like a "spring" that supports the weight of the panel when laying flat but also absorbs some of the vibration. I am not sure if this can be effectively achieved.

The brackets manufactured for holding LCD screws to walls have screws that are relatively close together. This is fine on a static, non-vibrating structure. On a moving, vibrating structure, you need to analyze for the thing to rock in θ and φ, as well as moving in X, Y, and Z. The vibration modes could be interesting. Probably, you want the mount holes as far apart as possible.
