Selectable Dimension Geometry ?

Selectable Dimension Geometry ?

Selectable Dimension Geometry ?

(OP)
I've just started at a new company. I am running r2000i w/Mechanical and I've encountered something new/foreign. Dimension geometry created with DIMASO-ON and all other settings I am aware of normal, I can't select dimension geometry OSNAP points for use with other commands. For instance, I want to insert a block at one "NODE" point (the "defpoint") of a linear dimension. Insert command works fine, but at the "insertion point" prompt, with "NODE" as the OSNAP modifier, the osnap fails to locate the node. I then checked things with other comands and osnap modes, and osnaps don't seem selectable on the dimension geometry. Is there a setting I'm overlooking?
THANKS in  advance,
CFEE

RE: Selectable Dimension Geometry ?

Hi,
Yes, there is a setting in Mechanical to filter out certain entities from being selected. To set the filters off, (BTW, I am working with MECHANICAL 6, but I think it is similar) select from the ASSIST >> DRAFTING SETTINGS >> POWER SNAP SETTINGS 1-4. Notice the FIlTERS box to the lower left. This contain a list of object types to filter out. Make sure that DIMENSIONS is unchecked. I hope this helps.

RE: Selectable Dimension Geometry ?

have you entered the command osnap
and then selected the type of osnap
that you want on like nearest, endpoint,
etc.?
