Deflection Design Rules

Does RISA 3D have the capability to suggest members based on deflection limits or set deflection limits in the section sets? I am switching from a software package that has this functionality which we use quite a bit. Thanks for any help.

RE: Deflection Design Rules

No, RISA-3D does not currently have deflection optimization. This is present in RISAFloor, however. You can view member deflection ratios in RISA-3D graphically to see which ones violate your desired limits. You can also set depth restrictions on the member optimization.

I will add you down as one of the users who has requested this feature be added.

Josh,
Thanks for the reply. I will see if I can do what I want in Floor. In 3D I can see the grahical deflected shape using the plot options, but not with any deflection ratio values presented. Perhaps I need to get upgraded to V12. Also, I appreciate your contributions to this forum.

RE: Deflection Design Rules

There is a way to plot the members using the "color coded" display to show the L/y or L/z deflection ratios. This may have been added in version 12 of RISA-3D. I'd have to review the release notes to remember exactly when it was added. But, that sounds about right.
