NX 9 Variational sweep

NX 9 Variational sweep

NX 9 Variational sweep

(OP)
Hello everyone, I am coming off from SolidWorks because I am in a need for some more advanced CAD software.
I am still a beginner and having serious, serious trouble understanding the idea behind variational sweep options.
Here is a picture of my problem:

You can probably see what my intention was and how the result is so very different.
Please, I would like to select a path for the sweep, then start cross section, then end cross section.
In stead, it asks me for the section only, no path, and it seems to generate a random path on it's own.
Also I can not find option to EDIT my cross sections no matter how many I create. I can only add them, no edit.
Can anyone please explain what am I doing wrong? I am frustrated.
Thank you for your time.

RE: NX 9 Variational sweep

Actually, I can't see the problem because the website you uploaded to is blocked by my workplace (and I'm probably not the only one). Could you use the engineering.com site (the attachment link below the post reply box)? I do have access to that site.

RE: NX 9 Variational sweep

For a model like that, I'd try using the Swept function first.

John,
Using plain sweep does not let my profile vary from one end to the other.
Unless there is something I am missing?

RE: NX 9 Variational sweep

Not the "sweep along guide" command, but the "swept" command. Pick your first section then click the "add new set" button (or middle mouse) then select the last section. Select your guide curves, set your other options and go.

RE: NX 9 Variational sweep

Swept will allow you to select multiple profiles which will be used to define the final shape as it follows your path.

Thank you!
I had no idea it was possible.
My hat is off to the speed of support on this forums. :)
