Number of cores

Number of cores

Number of cores

(OP)
We have two push buttons for ESD and a level switch going into a jb

Each of these have 3 cores(9 cores total) but the cable that comes out of the jb only has five cores.

Am I correct in assuming that a common supply has been used? But I am not sure how to account for the other cores?

Also we have two breakglass units for fire detection each has 3 cores but one breakglass unit is shown entering the other and only 3 cores total are going back to the jb. I am not sure how these would be looped?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

RE: Number of cores

Are the ESDs operating together on a common circuit?

Scotty,
Yes the level switch is also for esd and is on the same circuit

RE: Number of cores

It could be a common supply and a wire for each switch plus 1 extra wire. All 3 switches could be in series using 2 wires with 3 extra wires.

The break glass units are likely in series using 2 of the 3 wires, but they could also use a common supply and use 3 wires to the first unit and then 2 wires from the first unit to the second unit.

If you have layout drawings you should also have electrical connection drawings detailing all if this.

Thanks for the replies.

I have recently been gave up to date information about the break glass units.
1st BGU has a 4core fp400 cable leaving it and entering the 2nd BGU. A 4 core fp400 cable then goes back to the jb.

I'm not sure how these would be looped with this extra core. I am pretty sure a common supply has been used, but I am not sure how the 2 BGUs would be looped.?

Has anyone came across this before?

Thanks
