B31.3 Formal Analysis Requirements per 319.4.2

B31.3 Formal Analysis Requirements per 319.4.2

(OP)
Hi there,

I'm a student from germany and i started working on requirements of the B31.3 for our company.
Some vocabularies make it hard to understand for me.

319.4.2 is about the formal analysis requirements which says that every piping system has to be analyzed(except the ones which does not meet the criteria in 319.4.1).
It deals with simplified, approximate or comprehensive method of analysis but what does this exactly mean? I cannot find any explanation.
Are these methods always computer aided types of analysis with FEM for example?

Does anyone have examples of simplyfied, approximate and comprehensive methods?

Greets from germany.
Jan
